At the Night Of a Thousand Dances held at Sheraton Abuja, former BBA Chasemates Maria and Melvin who were special guests were invited by the MC, "Ghana Must Go" upstage to talk to the crowd. When asked whether she loved Nigeria, Maria replied : "I love this guy", referring to Melvin. I believe we could deduce then that her love for and frequent visits to Nigeria revolves around Melvin then.

Sources confirmed that her eyes sparkled as she looked Melvin in the face and held him by the shoulders. She is also said to have spoken a few words in the local parlance.
