Lee, known
for his role on Disney Channel‘s The Famous Jett Jackson show was
29. Last Tuesday American TV star Lee Thompson Young was reported to
have tragically taken his own life. Sources close to the late actor revealed to E! Entertainment that he had suffered from depression for some time leading up to his apparent suicide. They said he “Did
not drink or party. He was opposite, Lee loved to travel and was always
the first to tell everyone to take a breath and enjoy the beauty of
life.” Lee “really changed” a few years ago, when he began practicing Yorùbá, an African based religion all which has the saying “iku ago I esin” meaning death is preferable to ignominy.”
Chief Priest of Osogbo, Araba Ifayemi Osundagbonu Elebuibon was even mentioned in the report. He told the National Mirror that the Yorùbá religion does not “support suicide. The person who commits suicide will be punished in the hereafter”. Lee took “his practice to the next level and started wearing white all the time”. “The religion was everything to him” He took a break from practicing Yorùbá, but recently returned to the religion.
Do you agree to the report?
How are they so sure he killed himself, and what is even the meaning of Yoruba, is that not a tribe, when did it turn to a religion?
