The
Ogun State Police Command arrested 45 year old Toyin Sodimu for
allegedly raping his 16 year old daughter in Temidire community of Oke
Apo, Akomoje, Abeokuta. The state PRO, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a
statement that the teenager reported the incident to the Adatan Police
Division after her father raped her about 2am last Saturday.
Following her father's arrest, the 16-year old girl was taken to the
hospital by the police for medical examination and treatment. The
Commissioner of police Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye appealed to parents
particularly mothers to keep watch on their children and avoid collapse
of marriages which is perceived to be a catalyst to cases like this. He
urged other rape victims to always emulate this victim’s bravery to
report any rape case which will help the police tackle rape and related
offences in the state.
