Senate Of FUTO Sacks All Lecturers And Staff And Declares Vacancy? [FULL STORY]

For failure to return to classrooms, the Senate of the Federal 
University of Technology Owerri (FUTO) has sacked all academic staff on 
its payroll with immediate effect.<br />
The sack order was made known by the Public Relations Officers (PRO) of 
the institution, Mr Chike Ezenwa, while speaking with the Nigerian Tribune in Owerri, through telephone.<br />
<br />
According to him, the senate of the university had declared all the positions of academic staff in the <a href="http://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5438533803477296299" name="more"></a>institution, adding that they would be advertised starting from Monday, December 2.<br />
<br />
The senate council, he explained, had already compiled the list of 
vacant positions in the school, adding that who were willing to resume 
would be adequately protected.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the FUTO branch of ASUU has said any attempt to break their ranks would be strongly resisted by their members.<br />
This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end o their meeting 
held on Monday, and signed by both the chairman and secretary, Dr Ikenna
 Nwachukwu and Dr F.M. Eke respectively.<br />
<br />
The communiqué urged members to ignore the resumption notice by FUTO 
management, adding that the branch would not engage in any academic 
activities until the Federal Government commited itself to implementing 
the ASUU-FGN agreement.

 Folakemi Akinbode, a 26-year-old NYSC member serving in Bayelsa State, 
is now struggling for her life at the Niger Delta University Teaching 
Hospital, Okolobiri, following a brutal attack by bad some guys believed

 Akinbode, an indigene of Ondo State, a graduate Nurse of the Madonna 
University serving at NDU Teaching Hospital was returning from work when
 she was ambushed by two suspected cultists along a lonely bush path 
leading to the corpers’ lodge where she resides.</span><br />

<a href="http://www.blogger.com/null" name="more"></a><br />The incident occurred, Monday, at about 8.30pm at Obunagha community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state.<br /><br />Her
 right hand was almost chopped off by her assailants who are now at 
large. It was learnt that but for the hand she raised to defend herself 
the attackers could have killed her as the machete was aimed at her 
head.<br /><br />The victim was said to have ran to the lodge with her 
injuries shouting “help, help, help…” after which she collapsed and lost
 consciousness due to excessive bleeding from the almost severed hand.<br /><br />A source told Vanguard, “though she had been given 3 pints of blood, she is yet to regain consciousness.”<br /><br />Contacted,
 the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alex Akhigbe, confirmed 
the incident, saying the command has launched manhunt for the fleeing 
attackers.</div>
