According to the girl, her father who was sojourning in Spain 
returned to Ghana December last year and that was when it all 
started. “At the age of 16, I had not slept with any boy or man, but my 
father returned from Spain last December and started having s*x with 
me,” she said.<br />

The girl said her parents were divorced and her father was the one 
taking care of her so he threatened to stop supporting her if she told 
anybody. “If my father doesn’t pay my fees no one will do it. My mother 
does not have the means to take care of me in school so I was afraid to 
inform anybody about my ordeal; not even my mother,” the victim claimed.<br />
<br />

She also revealed that her father stopped her from going to church in
 fear that she might inform some of the church leaders of what he had 
been doing to her.<br />

The girl indicated that on Friday August 23, 2013, after she had 
returned from school her father demanded to have s*x with her but she 
refused and he gathered all her belongings including school uniforms, 
text and exercise books and set them ablaze. “After that he still wanted
 to have s*x with me so I run away to a neighbour’s house and it was 
there that I broke the news to some of the residents.<br />
<br />

It was learnt that personnel of the Domestic Violence and Victims 
Support Unit (DOVSSU) of the Ghana Police Service in Sekondi yesterday 
arrested the father and placed him in custody pending further 
investigations, after a report was made. Also, a medical report form was
 issued to the 17-year-old girl to attend hospital after which the 
accused person was arrested.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Monday, docked a 
50-year-old man, Yesiru Onajobi, for allegedly raping his 14-year-old 
daughter.<br />
<br />

Onajobi is standing trial before Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke, on a 
two-count charge of unlawfully having carnal knowledge of his teenage 
daughter.<br />
<br />

The accused, who is being prosecuted by the National Agency for the 
Prohibition of Traffic in Person (NAPTIP), is a farmer by occupation and
 resides at Bogije Street, Ibeju in Lekki area of the metropolis.<br />
<br />

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges while taking his plea, 
and the trial judge ordered that he should be remanded at the Ikoyi 
prisons.<br />
<br />

Aneke adjourned the case to October 21, for hearing on the bail 
application and a motion challenging the court’s jurisdiction to hear 
the suit as filed by the accused.<br />
<br />

The accused was first arraigned in September 2012 before Justice 
Benedicta Molokwu of the Federal High Court. Following her retirement, 
the case was re-assigned to Justice Aneke.<br />
<br />

The prosecutor told the court that the accused was arrested on January 20, 2010.<br />
<br />

He said Onajobi engaged in the habit of sexually harassing his only 
daughter, who was kept in his custody after the death of his wife.<br />
<br />

The prosecutor alleged that the accused intimidated and forcefully 
had carnal knowledge of the teenager several times before she became 
pregnant, an offence he pointed out was contrary to sections 13 (1) and 
18 (a) of the Trafficking in Person (Prohibition) Law Enforcement Act 
2003.

Protest by students of the University of Benin over alleged shooting 
to death of  late Momodu Ibrahim, a 22-year-old 500 level student of the
 Faculty of Laboratory Science yesterday disrupted vehicular movement in
 Benin city yesterday, as the students dressed in black attire marched 
through some major streets, calling for the arrest and prosecution of 
the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ogida Police Station, Mrs. 
Carol Afegbai, over her alleged complicity in the murder of Momodu.<br />
<br />

Late Momodu, said to be the only male child of his parents was 
allegedly shot close to his family house at 1, Igbobaewaye Street, off 
Siluko road by Textile Mill junction.<br />
<br />

An elder sister of the deceased, Ebohon Rebecca Egbe, who spoke to 
newsmen gave an account of how the life of his brother was cut short by 
the bullet allegedly fired by the DPO, while she called for justice to 
be done in the case.<br />
<br />

“I was in my office in Port Harcourt when I received a call from a 
cousin of mine in Benin who is a policeman, saying that he wants to tell
 me that we lost Ibrahim my younger brother.<br />

“I called my mother and she said they had been looking for him in for
 two days. Normally it is after 48 hours that you report such thing to 
the Police.”<br />
<br />

According to her, she later went to the Police only to be told that 
he was allegedly killed by Carol Afegbua, the DPO of Ogida Police 
Station and was buried the next day without the knowledge of the family.<br />
<br />

According to her, his brother’s cell-phone which was with the Police 
rang all through as “we were trying to locate his whereabouts until the 
Police finally picked the call and asked my mother to come to the police
 station.<br />
<br />

“When the DPO was confronted over why her men shot my brother, she 
explained that they did not know his identity because her men asked him 
to stop and he refused. The DPO alleged that he was carrying a gun and 
wanted to shoot her men on patrol before they shot at him in self 
defence.”<br />
<br />

The family, according to the sister of the slain student, was 
informed that the body of late Momodu had been buried at a public 
cemetery in Egor Local Government Area of the state.
