Robbery Gang Led By Female Law Graduate Arrested

A seven-man robbery gang led by a woman, Chioma Ezekwesiri a Law 
graduate from the University of Lagos, has been arrested along with six 
other members of her gang by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in 
Lagos while attempting to rob Bolatito Hotel, Kola Bus Stop, Ijaiye, 
Lagos.<br />

The alleged mastermind and ringleader, Chioma confessed she arranged 
for the guns with Raymond Chukwuka, a.k.a. Stubborn. They were to use 
for the operation, which she claimed was a land matter, whereas the 
police said that their mission was allegedly to rob a male customer of 
the hotel, who sells fertilizer, of about N8 million.<br />
<br />
According to P.M News reports, other suspected members of the gang 
are: Amadi Igwe, 41, Raymond Chukwuka, 24, Ignatius Okeredi, 27, Michael
 Madu, 52, and Okechukwu Jerome, 28, and a yet-to-be identified member 
who is now on the run.<br />
<br />
The alleged robbery operation, according to the police, was foiled by
 some staff of the hotel, who promptly made a distress call to SARS 
operatives.<br />
The law enforcement agents were said to have surrounded the hotel, 
and later searched all its occupants. It was in the process that two 
locally made guns and 12 live ammunition were recovered from the robbery
 suspects.

 Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to seven years in 
prison after being found guilty of charges of corruption and soliciting 
an underage prostitute.<br /><br />The 76-year-old was accused of paying for
 sex with Moroccan girl Karima El Mahroug in 2010, when she was 17, as 
well as abusing his position in public office for attempting to force 
her release from police custody over a charge of petty theft.</span></div>

 prosecutors sought the maximum six-year custodial sentence for the 
former Italian Premier, a court in Milan issued a seven-year punishment 
following the guilty verdict, in addition to a lifetime ban from 
politics, pending any appeal from Berlusconi's solicitors.<br /><br />However,
 it could be months or even years before he serves any punishment, with 
Berlusconi entitled to appeal the verdict twice before it becomes final.<br /><br />Berlusconi
 is already embroiled in several legal battles in the Italian courts. In
 October 2012, he was issued a four-year prison sentence for tax fraud, 
which has been upheld following a first appeal.

 that brawl between Chris and Frank Ocean last January outside a 
recording studio?  Law enforcement revealed shortly after the incident 
the case was closed, but it has been found out that's not the case.<br /><br />It was learned the L.A. County D.A.'s Office has an active file and is deciding whether to prosecute Brown for battery.<br /><br />It's interesting ... because Ocean never formally pressed charges.  Nonetheless ... the case is under review.<br /><br />It's
 possible the Brown/Ocean incident could come up today at Brown's 
probation review hearing.  Brown is supposed to be in court, and the 
judge could raise the issue because Chris was ordered to obey all laws.<br /><br />Meanwhile, Brown is also being investigated for an alleged hit-and-run.

 Morehouse College (Atlanta, USA) athletes have been accused of rapè and
 other charges. Chukwudi Ndudikwa and Malcolm Frank face rapè and

 witnesses say the victim did have sex with several men in several 
rooms, and one witness says the victim used a drug. One witness also 
said the victim was drunk, dancing, fell and hit her head.Tevin Mgbo is 
looking at charges of aggravated sodomy, kidnapping and reckless 
conduct. </div>

According to court documents the incident involving those three
 suspects happened March 8 at the East Suites. The victim told police 
there was a party celebrating Spring Break and then they went to a club.
 The victim says she admits drinking some alcohol but says she did not 
use drugs, and does not remember much of what happened at the club or 
afterward.</div>

One
 of the victim's friends says he tried to help her but she would not 
allow it. He told police she kept hitting him and even picked up a knife
 and tried to stab him saying she knew what she was doing. He says the 
next morning the victim was unaware of what happened and he took her to 
the hospital. </div>

Another witness says some of the suspects came and 
confronted the victim about the rapè accusations. That witness said he 
told them "no one forced her to do it but she was not fully aware of 
where she was or what she was doing".</div>

Once campus police were told of the incidents, they identified and arrested the men.</div>

 reported from Morehouse College, students who violate the school's code
 of conducts and the law will receive disciplinary actions, which could

Anyway, I became addicted to my blackberry and also my social media 
applications, and since I had constant access, I quickly gained enough 
followers, and especially guys, mostly because I had a lot of er*tic 
pictures on my timeline, I was popular, finally I felt I was the main 
girl, everyone wanted to follow me, I didn’t care if it was virtual, it 
felt good, checking out my profile and having well over 8,000 followers,
 more than half of which were guys, but one particular guy caught my 
attention, till this day I don’t know what made him stand out, but we 
got chatty, he sent me direct messages and I replied, he was quiet a 
gentleman , and I can’t remember him ever asking for a nudè picture 
unlike the rest of them, so this made me comfortable with him, his name 
was Tobi, he said he was a doctor , I didn’t have any cause to doubt 
him, he had extensive knowledge and even gave me some medical advice 
from time to time, we eventually moved from twitter to blackberry chat, 
we chatted all the time, I got so comfortable with him, I gave him my 
number, and that would come to be the biggest mistake I ever made.</div>

Tobi called me every day, some days he called more than once, at 
night he would call and I would lay on my bed and have phone sèx with 
him, his voice was so soothing, he made me do things I never thought

take nudè pictures of myself, I would send him videos of me touching 
myself in private, and send him voice notes of me making moaning sounds 
and simulating orgàsms, and all this while we had not met, not face to 
face at least, eventually I played into his hands, I began pestering to 
meet him in person, at this point I had lost my mind, I assumed I was 
in-love with him, and when my boyfriend at the time broke up with me, I 
really welcomed it, for me it meant no more sneaking around.</div>

soon as he arrived and also he said it would make him more committed to 
the visit and would convince him of my seriousness, I bought it all, he 
was smart, he was cunning, and I was stupid, oh how stupid I was. The 
funny thing was I had sent him tons of pictures, and all I had was just 
one picture of him, and whenever I asked he would claim he wanted to be 
sure I loved him for him, and not for his looks, and sheepishly I would 
try to convince him of my undying love, and would try to appease him 
with nudè pictures of my body.</div>

He eventually made it to Lagos, I met him at the hotel, he was tall, 
handsome and had a wonderful smile, he made love to me over and over, 
and convinced me to spend the night with him, I told him I couldn’t, 
because I had a test the next morning, now at this point I don’t know 
what triggered his anger, don’t know if it was because I couldn’t spend 
the night, or maybe I said something else I can’t remember saying, but 
whatever it was, brought out a very ugly side of him, he called me foul 
names, and kept going on and on about how he always knew I was cheap, 
and he knew I was sleeping with other men, the same man whom had swept 
me away, slammed me on the floor, he told me of how he had shown his 
friends all my nudè pictures and how they had watched the videos and 
listened to the voice notes, he told me he had made a bet with his 
friends, that I would actually pay for him to have sèx with me, just to 
prove how stupid I was, well you can imagine how I felt, I was confused 
and shocked, but I attempted to regain any little dignity I had left, 
and so I tried to mouth off at him, suddenly he punched me in the face, 
and I tripped over, and hit my head on a stool.</div>

The next thing I remember was waking up on the bed, I was tied up, 
and he was staring at me, his eyes were dark and he had a sinister smile
 on his lips, he stood up and walked towards me ,I tried to scream and

was that no one knew where I was, he turned me over, and told me he was 
going to teach me a lesson, at this point I was unclad, he rapped me 
from behind, and I mean my anus, the pain was mind blowing, I struggled,
 and he hit me, when he was done he brought out a small blade, and he 
looked at me for a minute and said, this scar is going to always serve 
as a reminder, for girls like you always trying to be more than you are,
 for stupid fools like you, he put the blade to my<br />
bosom and cut it off, and anytime I think of it, I still feel the pain, 
it was like nothing I had ever felt before, he was calm, like he had 
done it a million times, I could feel the warm blood dripping down my 
mutilated chest, tears of fear and pain running down my face, and 
suddenly he turned around again, this time<br />
all I saw was a flash.</div>

I don’t know how I survived it, but I woke up in a hospital days 
after, well I was awake, but my eyes were swollen shut, It took a couple
 of days for me to open my one good eye, and realize d damage he had 
done, he had plucked out my eye, and cut my face,<br />
he had cut my breasts up real bad, they had to it out, like I had cancer
 or something, there was no record of who I was, coz he had taken 
everything, he had taken my bag, containing everything I had. I was able
 to tell the nurses about what I could remember, and also give them my 
mum’s phone number, the hospital felt so much pity, they actually 
treated me for free, hard <span style="color: #0000ee;"><u>to  </u></span>believe right?</div>

Anyway I was taken home after weeks at the hospital to recuperate, it
 was tough, I was blind in one eye, I had one chest and a hideous scar 
of my face, talk about your sinage, he did a number on me, how dumb was 
I, sometimes I wish he had killed me, but there are fates worse than 
death, and I guess this is one of them, he was gone without a trace, the
 receipt<br />
from the hotel was in my name, so yes he had played me from the start.</div>

I didn’t dare go back to school, I was sure everyone would have 
heard, and I was not going to become a statistic, so I decided to stay 
home, and mind my business, besides what do I need an<br />
education for, I’d rather stay home, because there is no rising from 
this, there is no happy ending to this story, this is the simple ending,
 I was a victim if a sèxual predator, and I let him into my life period,
 and I take full responsibility for that, I was driven by greed and lack
 of morals, I allowed myself fall into an abyss, but well saying all 
this doesn’t change anything, it’s a memory I will have to live with for
 the rest of my life, well not a memory, because I look at myself in the
 mirror everyday, who would want to see a nudè picture of a woman with 
one chest, one eye, and a stub.</div>

Two whistle-blowers appeared before the Senate in Abuja yesterday and
 admitted paying N250,000 each to secure appointments in the Ministries 
of Lands and Housing, Information, Works, Trade and Investment, aided 
principally by staff of the federal agencies.<br />

Mrs. Rose Nkarishor Odey and Idachaba Tijani told the 
Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs 
that the job-for-sale racket was being allegedly spearheaded by one 
Juliet Egobunor and Simon Odujebe.<br />
<br />

The duo claimed to work for the Ministry of Lands and Housing from 
where they fleeced nnocent Nigerians of N250,000 each with the promise 
of employment in any federal ministry.<br />
<br />

In the letter before the committee, titled: Petition against Juliet 
Egobunor and Simon Odujebe for issuing me fake appointment letter for 
N250,000, dated March 25, 2013, Odey tendered an Offer of Temporary 
Appointment letter purportedly issued on the letter head of the Federal 
Civil Service Commission, dated September 5, 2007 with Ref No: 
FC.7000/C.4261/19. The said appointment letter, a copy of which  was 
obtained by Daily Sun, signed by one Ahmed S. Dantanko offered Odey, 
whose address was stated as 16, Bolarinwa Street, Molete, Ibadan, Oyo 
State, was appointed as Administrative Officer II on salary Grade Level 
08, Step 02 which is N164,272.00 per annum.<br />

Odey’s appointment, as with many others in various ministries, was 
equally captured in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the 
Federation Gazette Section of October 18, 2011.<br />

Besides, Odey attached a circular, which allegedly emanated from the 
Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office in the Office of the Head 
of the Civil Service of the Federation marked: HCSF/PSO/002/S.I/Tiii of 
January 25,2012 which “approved the posting of 
newly-appointed/transferred Administrative Officers into the Federal 
Civil Service as in the attached format…<br />

“The postings are with immediate effect and all officers are to 
report not later than Friday, February 2012.” One Mrs. Kehinde Ajoni, 
Permanent Secretary (CMO), reportedly signed the circular on behalf of 
the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.<br />
<br />

But Odey admitted before the committee yesterday that she was given 
the appointment in April, 2012 and could not explain why the  letter 
given her by Juliet read September, 2007. In her testimony before the 
committee, an obviously Mrs. Odey carefully detailed how the deal was 
struck in the house of her sister, Martina, and how for eight months she
 worked without any salary.<br />
<br />

Odey was initially given an employment letter for the Ministry of 
Information before she was “transferred” to the Trade and Investment 
Ministry. That was where the illegal transactions were exposed. All 
efforts to retrieve her N250,000 has since failed.<br />
<br />

The racket blew open when she went for registration in the ministry 
and it was discovered that she shared the same employment number with 
two other men! The racketeers then offered her another slot.<br />

Tijani was not so lucky. He worked for only some months before he was apprehended as a fake staff of the Works Ministry.<br />
<br />

Quickly, Tijani demanded a refund but has only succeeded in getting N100,000 back from Egobunor and Odujebe.<br />
<br />

When it was his turn to testify , Tijani, who wore white buba and 
sokoto and for the most part of the confession kept his head bowed, 
re-echoed the employment story of Mrs. Odey.<br />
<br />

He was, however, lucky because he has, so far, managed to evade 
arrest and was also able to retrieve N100,000 from the N250,000 he paid 
to the job racketeers.<br />
<br />

Tijani’s words: “I met Egobunor who I offered N250,000 for 
employment. After that, I was posted to the Ministry of Works in April 
2012 and my appointment letter was duly signed. From there, I was posted
 to a department in the ministry.<br />
<br />

“On May 30, I was apprehended because the documents regarding my 
appointment were fake and I was asked where the documents were from. I 
cooperated fully with them and told them who gave me the appointment 
letter.<br />
<br />

“I was thereafter taken to the Ministry of Lands and Housing to 
confront Juliet but before we got there, she had left office. I was 
asked to go for that day and report back the following day but I didn’t 
go back as asked, because I was afraid of being arrested.<br />
<br />

“Somehow, I met Egobunor and demanded for a refund and she sent me to
 Simon Odujebe who told me categorically that a refund was not easy but 
instead, offered to take me to a new ministry. I refused that offer and 
we ended up bargaining for how much to get back from the initial 
N250,000 I had paid. I was offered 60 per cent of the N250,000, but I 
demanded for 80 per cent instead because I just wanted my money at that 
point. In November, I was given N100,000 and I was supposed to have been
 reimbursed another N50,000 which I have not got till date. Odujebe sent
 a text message to me, promising to refund the N50,000 and the message 
is still in my phone as I speak before you…<br />
<br />

“That is why I came here with my petition, hoping that something will be done…”<br />
<br />

On cross-examination from the co-Chairman of the committee, Senator 
Wilson Ake, how he, Tijani, came about the appointment letter which read
 2007 instead of 2012, Tijani replied: “I don’t know why they gave me an
 appointment letter reading 2007 when I was employed in April 2012… I 
don’t know why they did all these because I have no experience in civil 
service. I cannot explain the discrepancies.”<br />
<br />

Ake asked Tijani whether he signed any acknowledgement letter from the ministry on his employment to which he simply said: No.<br />
<br />

He said that Egobunor only gave him some letters purportedly for his employment.<br />
<br />

In attendance was the Deaconess Tolani Ayo, Chairman of the Federal 
Civil Service Commission (FCSC), who asked for time to investigate the 
authenticity of the letter cum circular bandied by Mrs. Odey.<br />
<br />

The Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta-led joint committee demanded the FCSC 
chairman return today with more evidence. The public hearing continues

The driver of a Toyota Highlander shot dead by policemen in the Mushin area
of Lagos State last Thursday was supposed to get married by the last quarter of
2013.<br />
<br />

Santos Korie (Nwabueze Korie) was killed in his Toyota Highlander Sports

The cousin of the deceased, Henry Madu, has revealed that Korie was engaged
and was planning to get married later in the year.<br />
<br />

“He was engaged and was planning his traditional wedding already. His
fiancee is a National Youth Service Corps member and he was waiting for her to
finish this July before getting married to her,” he said.<br />
<br />

“She has been crying since the incident occurred and we have been consoling
her.”<br />
<br />

Madu said Korie’s death was painful but it was more so because he was the
breadwinner of his family.<br />

“He has six siblings but their parents are late. Although he was the second
child, he was the breadwinner,” Madu said.<br />
<br />

“He was only 38 years old before his life was cut short by those who should
have protected him.”<br />

The police had refuted claims he was killed by policemen as they said Korie
could have been killed by hired killers in police uniform.<br />
<br />

Madu was however quick to fault the police’s theory, saying his cousin was
never involved in any illegitimate business that would warrant his termination
by anyone.<br />
<br />

He said the circumstances surrounding Korie’s death showed that he was
killed by overzealous policemen.<br />

Madu who didn’t witness the killing said the deceased’s friend, Tochukwu
Ofogene, told him that he (Korie) was shot in the face after being stopped by
policemen.<br />
<br />

“My cousin was driving while his friend, Tochukwu, was on the passenger side.
They were coming from FESTAC but on getting to Iyana-Isolo, they noticed a
road-block due to an ongoing construction.<br />
<br />

“They wanted to ascend the Daleko Bridge so a newspaper vendor advised them
to drive against traffic in order to connect the bridge. It was while they were
about ascending that the two policemen accosted them.<br />
<br />

“A policeman stood by the driver side while the other stood by the passenger
side. As he was trying to explain himself, they cocked their guns. As he was
about to park properly, the policeman by his side opened fire. Then they both
fled.”<br />
<br />

Madu said officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority also
brought two guns believed to have been dumped by the policemen to the Area D
Command.<br />
<br />

He said, “It was at Area D that I got involved. I saw my cousin’s corpse
stained with blood all over. It was a gory sight. “The CP however ordered that they be detained.”<br />
<br />

“I spent the Easter with him and we were together four days before he was
killed. We spoke about many things.<br />
<br />

“He said he wanted to make sure that his younger ones would not suffer the
way he did. He had a good heart.<br />
<br />

“In fact, he told me that he would hire a live band to come and perform at
my church wedding which is due to hold this October.”<br />
<br />

A copy of the death certificate said Korie died as a result of a
“perforating gunshot injury to the left zygomatic area with skull fracture,
subarachoin haemorrhage and cereberal contusion.”<br />

Acting spokesperson for the Lagos state police command, Damascus Ozoani,
said investigations were ongoing.<br />

A housewife, Fatsuma Isa, from Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of
 Bauchi State allegedly raped by a commercial motorcycle has died.<br />
<br />

The mother of four died shortly after her discharge from the Abubakar
 Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, (ABTBUTH), Bauchi She was 
discharged from the hospital on March 21, 2013. Fatsuma, who was five 
months pregnant, was allegedly raped by Auwalu Yaye, a neighbour leading
 to her miscarriage.<br />
<br />

The victim, who spoke with newsmen at her hospital bed, had alleged 
that Auwalu raped her in front of her two children aged three and five 
respectively.<br />
<br />

The mother and two of her children were said to be heading to Bakala 
in Brugga on Aulwalu’s motorcycle when he diverted into the bush and 
raped her. She said Auwalu stabbed her on her left hand with a knife and
 threatened to kill her if she did not agree to have sex with him.<br />
<br />

She was rushed to the hospital in Bauchi by her husband, Isa Umar 
after the incident. “I feel ashamed of myself because he has tarnished 
my name and reputation,” Fatsuma had told newsmen in an interview 
shortly after was discharged from the hospital.<br />
<br />

“People will look at me as a wayward woman. “Now people will think of
 me as an irresponsible woman. I knew no man except my husband. I feel 
very sad.” Isa Umar described the death of his wife as painful, saying 
she died out of frustration.<br />
<br />

“Her soul won’t rest in peace unless Auwalu is brought to justice,” 
husband of the deceased said. Bauchi State Officer of the Legal Aid 
Council of Nigeria, Barrister Zubayr Hanbali expressed shock and sadness
 at the death of Fatsuma. Hanbali therefore pleaded with the police to 
properly investigate the matter to ensure that justice prevails.<br />
<br />

He said: “Her case was brought to us by the husband and I happened to
 discuss with her and she told me her ordeal. “The only thing the family
 wants is to get justice because the motto of the Legal Aid Council is 
justice for the oppressed to stop oppression.’ “We are going to do our 
best to ensure that the suspect,, Auwalu Yaye is arraigned before a 
court of law.<br />
<br />

“In fact, the FIR has not been released but it is still not too late 
for Auwalu to face the charges against him.” “I am calling on the 
Ministry of Justice to take over the matter to ensure that justice is 
done. “We are not passing judgement on Auwalu but we want the court to 
prove that Auwalu is guilty or not.<br />
<br />

“It is not ideal to allow such things to pass because it does not 
make anybody to be safe and Auwalu was even the disease’s neighbour.”<br />

A 22-year-old man, Julius Aboy was yesterday sentenced to death for 
stealing N955, 600 by a Delta State High Court sitting in Warri. The 
trial judge, Justice Marshal Mukoro of High Court 1, who handed down the
 sentence told the convict that he is to die by hanging.<br />
<br />

The convict was arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy to 
commit armed robbery and armed robbery, offences punishable under 
Sections 6(b) and 1(2)(a) respectively of the Robbery and Firearms 
(Special Provisions) Act Cap. RII Volume 14, Laws of the Federation of 
Nigeria, 2004.<br />
<br />

In the first count, Julius Aboy and others now at large were reported
 to have on or about the 4th day of March, 2011 in Warri, conspired with
 others now at large to commit armed robbery.<br />
<br />

In the second count, Julius Aboy and others now at large were also 
reported to have, on or about the 4th day of March, 2011 in Warri, 
robbed one Godwin Gwuene of N955, 600, while armed with a gun. The <a href="http://sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/man-22-to-die-by-hanging-for-stealing-n955-600/#" id="_GPLITA_0" style="text-decoration: underline;" title="Click to Continue > by Browse to Save">money</a> was said to be Ususu contribution (savings), belonging to workers, serving as cleaners in a company in Warri.<br />

The armed robbery gang, of which Aboy was allegedly a member, ran out
 of luck when an oncoming vehicle knocked down their getaway motorbike 
at the scene of the crime, leading to the arrest of the convict and 
killing of another member of the gang by an angry mob.<br />
<br />

Justice Mukoro said the excuse of poverty, which the convict gave as 
reason of dropping out of school and venturing into crime was not 
tenable, as poverty was not a licence for criminality.<br />

graduate, described snipping babies’ spinal cords as “literally a 
beheading.” He told the court that “it would rain fetuses.”<br />

Gosnell allegedly gave <em><strong>preferential treatment to white patients</strong></em>, whom he would meet with one-on-one before their procedures.<br />

urine, courtesy of the cats that were allowed to roam (and defecate) 
freely. Furniture and blankets were stained with blood. Instruments were
 not properly sterilized. Disposable medical supplies were not disposed 
of; they were reused, over and over again.<br />
