<span style="font-family: inherit;">It was earlier reported that Boko Haram militants invaded Kautikari,</span><span style="font-family: inherit;">, Kwada and Nguragila villages near Chibok in Borno State, on Sunday
June 29, 2014. The story now is that the militants killed at least 56 people
and razing numerous homes. The militants, dressed in military camouflage,
stormed the three villages from 8:45 a.m, when many Christians were at Sunday
services. One source said the militants arrived in the villages in a convoy of
sports utility vehicles and unleashed terror on villagers for several hours.
Their killing spree reportedly lasted till 12:30 p.m.</span></div>

redouble its commitment to combating terrorism.</span></div>

and 15 kilometers from Chibok, the location where Boko Haram militants seized

Suspected members of the Islamic militant sect, Boko Haram, have 
attacked three communities in Chibok Local Government Area in Borno 
State, killing no fewer than 10 persons.<br />
According to the president, Kibaku Youth Association of Nigeria, Mr. 
Moses Zakwa, three communities were attacked by the insurgents.<br />
“The communities that were attacked are Kwada, Kautikari and Guradina, 
all in Chibok LGA. As at now, over 20 persons have been confirmed dead, 
10 of which I know personally. My cousin and one of my uncles were among
 those killed. He had three wives and over 20 children and he was killed
 in cold blood. The attack started around 8am in the morning and it 
lasted for over four hours,” he told The PUNCH.<br />
Zakwa further said, “The gunmen also opened fire on worshippers in a 
church service. People have not been sleeping at home. Some have run 
into the nearby bush to hide because their lives are at risk.”<br />
Another Chibok indigene, Manasseh Allen, also confirmed the attack in a 
telephone chat with our correspondent. “We need divine help,” he said, 
adding that Kautikari is the second largest town in Chibok LGA.<br />
When contacted on the telephone, a member of the Borno State House of 
Assembly, representing Chibok constituency, Mr. Aimu Foni, said, “It’s 
obvious this was a Boko Haram attack because three days ago, they 
threatened to attack,” he said.

The dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram has launched a deadly attack on 
the  Maiduguri Air-force Base and the international Airport in Borno 
state.<br />
<br />

The sect reportedly attacked the airport and set two aircraft parked at the airport ablaze.<br />

A similar attack also was carried out by the sect at a Police Barracks in Maiduguri.<br />
<br />

Several people were killed by the explosives which the terrorist 
planted in targeted areas, including the newly constructed trailer park 
along Damaturu- Maiduguri road, military check points, residential and 
public buildings. Some Boko Haram members and securities operatives were
 killed in the attack.<br />
<br />

All the attacks were said to be coordinated and started at about 3am on Monday.<br />
<br />

Army spokesman, Ibrahim Attahiru confirmed the Monday attacks which 
he said occurred near the city’s airport but could not give further 
details.<br />
<br />

Following the attacks, a 24 hours curfew has been imposed in 
Maiduguri with no air traffic allowed in or out of embattled Borno 
state.<br />
<br />

“The Borno state government in consultation with (the military) has 
decided to impose a 24-hour curfew on Maiduguri,” Borno’s capital, said 
state government secretary Baba Ahmed Jidda.<br />
<br />
“The imposition of the curfew is necessitated by an attack in 
Maiduguri by people suspected to be Boko Haram members in the early 
hours of today.”<br />
<br />

The military said the shutdown would help block militants from 
coordinating attacks but with no working mobile phone service, details 
of the conflict in the area have been difficult to verify.<br />
<br />

The phone network has been down in Borno state since mid-May, when a state of emergency was declared in the area.<br />
<br />

This latest attack by the sect put a doubt to the claim by the 
military that the state of emergency declared by President Jonathan in 
three northern states is yielding results and that the Islamist 
insurgents have been pushed into remote, more rural parts of the 
northeast.<br />

Up to 50 students have been killed after suspected members of 
terrorist sect Boko Haram attacked the College of Agriculture in Yobe. The insurgents moved into the College of Agriculture, Gujba, 50 Km 
south of Damaturu, the state capital and killed several students.

A staff of the school told Channels Television that several dead 
bodies are still being recovered from bushes, hostels and classes in and
 around the school. The source also revealed that surviving students are at the moment 
making efforts to reunite with their families in fear of further attacks
 by the insurgents.

Shocking revelation emerged during the weekend that members of the Islamic violent group, Boko Haram in Magumeri forest, Borno, are beginning to eat themselves after being stranded for days without food or water.

Mallam Momodu Bukar, a suspected member of the outlawed sect told newsmen on Saturday in Maiduguri that he fled the camp at the forest on Thursday when he could no longer cope with the situation.

“I thank God that I escaped because I would have been slaughtered by now to provide meal for my colleagues at the camp,” Bukar said.

According to him, he was captured by a youth vigilante group, popularly known as the civilian JTF at Baga Road motor park, Maiduguri, on Friday.

He said, the extremists had been in the forest since May, when they were dislodged from Marte, Marte Local Government Area, by the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order after the declaration of the state of emergency.

“Our group, consisting of about 300 well-armed combatants, headed for Magumeri on the orders of the sect leader, Abubakar Shekau, shortly before the military took over Marte Camp.

“We have been wandering in the forest. We have exhausted our food and water supply, and so, everybody became hungry,” he said.

He said since then, they could not reach their leader, Shekau due to the closure of GSM services by the Defence Headquarters.

He said, “It all started last Monday when three of the combatants in camp died of acute hunger, and it became obvious that all of us will die if action was not taken. The leader of the group, Abu Omar, directed that a non-combatant member be slaughtered to provide meal for the rest.

“The meat provided meal for the combatant for just two days and another person was killed in the same manner on Wednesday. So, it became certain that I might be the next person since I am also a non-combatant member.”

The suspected militant fled the forest after he volunteered to help search for drinking water for the group in a nearby village.

“I left the camp on Thursday evening after agreeing to fetch water from the village. After leaving the camp, I started running until I arrived at Magumeri town, so, I slept in the motor park before boarding a vehicle to Maiduguri with the little money on me.” he said.

An official of the vigilante group, Mallam Ajid Asheik, said the suspect would be handed to the Joint Task Force on Operation Restore Order for investigation.

Nigeria’s violent Islamist sect, Boko Haram, is gradually moving down south to Lagos, Ogun, and Rivers States, following the extensive military onslaught against it in the North-East geopolitical zone, Babafemi Ojodu, a senator, said on Wednesday.

The senator spoke at a lecture organized to commemorate the 70th birthday of Ropo Sekoni, a retired Professor of Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies, in Lagos.

Mr. Ojodu said that during a visit by a team of senators to the North East, military authorities informed them that documents recovered from the dreaded Islamist insurgents revealed that they still have about 6,000 fighters ready to fight to the finish.

Some of the members are hiding at the Sambisa forest far away from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

“We were told by the military that the sect members are moving into Ogere in Ogun State, Lagos and Port Harcourt,” Mr. Ojudu said. “The military said they are trying to flush them them out but we don’t know how much they have succeeding.”

The senator added, “The Boko Haram issue is the biggest problem before us but we are not tackling it with urgency, We are busy talking about 2015.”

Mr. Ojodu stated that his team’s five-day official assignment ended abruptly on the third day because the atmosphere in the area was “not conducive.”

The military, according to Mr. Ojudu, showed the visiting senators several video clips, including how members of the dreaded sect butchered the 10 traders from Bodija market, Ibadan, who had travelled to the North to buy beans.

The documents recovered from the sect also revealed that members had vowed that they would fight to the finish, Mr. Ojodu, representing Ekiti Central, added.

On Monday, the International Criminal Court (ICC) indicted the extremist Boko Haram sect for crime against humanity for its widespread and systematic murder and persecution of civilians since 2009.

The report titled “Situation in Nigeria” says there is reasonably basis that since July 2009, the group that aims to spread radical Islam in Northern Nigeria has committed crime against humanity.

The report highlights various attacks on civilian population by the sect. It also described these attacks as systematic and widespread spanning over the entire North Eastern region as well as Plateau, Kogi, Kano, Bauchi and Kaduna States.

The birthday lecture in honour of Prof. Sekoni, entitled ‘Make or Break: The Imperative of Cultural Democracy in Nigeria’ was delivered by Femi Folorunso, iconic writer and author. Mr. Folorunso was a student of Prof Sekoni at the then University of Ife.

No fewer than 20 persons were believed to have been killed in Sabon Gari area of Kano on Monday as suspected terrorists detonated about four bombs in the neighbourhood.

It was learnt that one of the explosions, believed to have been carried out by Islamic sect, Boko Haram, occurred at a drinking joint in Sabon Gari, where most of the non-indigenes reside.
The blasts occurred on Igbo Road, Enugu Road and New Road, opposite Ado Bayero Square.

The first blast was said to have occurred at about 9.12pm near International Hotel, while the second blast followed three minutes later.
Security forces immediately condoned off both sites, which prevented people from moving closer to the places hit by the explosions.

A resident of the area, who spoke to one of our correspondents on the telephone, said there were series of explosions, which had created pandemonium in the commercial area of the state capital.

The resident, who craved anonymity, said the explosions were still ongoing as of 10pm, adding that there had been at least two explosions before the latest one at about 9.30pm.
It was difficult to ascertain the number of casualties of the explosions but Channels TV, in its 10pm news report, said about 20 people had been killed.

AFP reports that “at least four explosions” had occurred in the Sabon Gari neighbourhood on Monday.
“There is confusion all over the place. There were four huge explosions, so huge that they shook the whole area. Everywhere is enveloped in smoke and dust,” Chinyere Madu, a fruit vendor, told AFP.

Kola Oyebanji, a resident of the neighbourhood, believed “beer parlours” were 
the target.
He said, “My house is not far from there. All my windows are shattered.”
The cause of the blasts was not immediately clear.
The spokesman for the Joint Task Force, Captain Ikedichi Iweh, confirmed
the explosions but refused to give details.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State, Mr. Musa Daura, who confirmed the incident, claimed that six persons were killed during the blasts while six others were injured.
Boko Haram had claimed responsibility for coordinated suicide blasts at a bus park in Sabon Gari in March that killed about 22 people.

However, in Lagos, 42 suspected members of  Boko Haram  were on Monday paraded by the  81 Division of the Nigerian Army  in Lagos.
They were nabbed between July 12 and July 23 in  various parts of Lagos and Ogun states

According to the Nigerian Army, the suspects fled  from  Borno State following a state of emergency  declared by the Federal Government.
Although most of the suspects spoke in Hausa language,  a few  who  managed to communicate   in pidgin,confessed that they had been involved in terrorist activities in the past.

One of them,  Hassan Ibrahim, who  admitted recruiting some of the suspects, disclosed that he, in company with   Ibrahim Ismail and Alhaji Black,  killed a soldier and a civilian  identified only as Buka in  Maiduguri.

He said, “We rode  a tricycle in Maiduguri and killed a soldier and one Buka. It was Alhaji Black that pulled the trigger. We also carried out some other operations in the area.
“Later, I met both Ismaili and Alhaji Black in Lagos, while I was riding okada (motorcycle).”
  Black, who was  also accused by Ismail of being a member of the sect,  denied the accusation.  He  said he had been riding a motorcycle in Lagos in the past five years, adding  that   he was arrested during a raid in Kirikiri, a surburb of Lagos.
Some of the other suspects denied being terrorists, saying that they had been in Lagos for many years.
The General Officer Commanding  the  81 Division,Maj.- Gen. Obi Umahi, said the suspects were arrested during  raids  by intelligence operatives. He  explained the raid was carried out following intelligence report that   the sect planned to unleash terror on parts of the South-West.

He said the raids were conducted at Ibafo trailer park    and Ileke new trailer garage in Ogun State; Aviation quarters at Mafoluku, Oshodi; Ketu/Mile 12 Motor Park; Orile Trailer Park; Lekki new extension and Bar Beach.
These places, according to him, were fast becoming Boko Haram enclaves.
Umahi said that during interrogation,some of the suspects  gave useful information that led to the  arrest of  others.

The GOC said, “The raids were conducted between July 12 and July 23 in various hideouts in Lagos and Ogun states which are fast becoming Boko Haram terrorist enclaves.”
The army boss did not say if arms were recovered from the suspects, but he added that they were still trying to track their weapons.
“From investigations, we cannot say if they are in Lagos to stage an attack or running for their lives. Investigations would reveal that,” he said.
Our correspondent learnt that due to the pressure from the armed forces in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states, suspected Boko Haram members had been fleeing to the South-West.

The PUNCH had reported last Wednesday that the police in Ogun State had arrested a 22-year-old man, Giraima Suri, suspected to be a member of Boko Haram in Isheri-Kara in Ifo Local Government area.
The police had said the suspect,  who hails  from Bulunkutu Kasuwa, Maiduguri, Borno State, was arrested based on a tip off.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement in Abeokuta, said the suspect told policemen that he fled Maiduguri to the South-West following aggressive manhunt for members of the sect by security operatives.
The PUNCH learnt that since security agents foiled a terror plot and arrested a suspected terrorist, Ibrahim Musa, in Ijora, Lagos on March 22, 2013, there had been constant raids across the state.
The Minister of Special Duties, Kabiru Tanimu, had also said last month that at least 104 Boko Haram members were being detained in prisons in Lagos.
The Director, State Security Service, Lagos State Command, Mr. Ben Olayi, who spoke to our correspondent on the telephone, said the sudden interest in Lagos State by the suspected sect members was predictable because Lagos has a special status.

Olayi said the SSS was collaborating with its sister agencies in the state to make sure that no terror plot succeeded.
He said, “We will not stop doing what we have been doing in terms of security. We will keep monitoring them (terrorists). We had anticipated that when the heat was much for them in the North, some of them would come to Lagos because Lagos is always the city of first choice.
“We have not made any arrests in recent times but we have been giving other security agencies information which they have been using to make arrests.”

With an unusual grandstanding and harsh words, the Nigerian military 
today warned political office holders and civil servants that the 
nation’s armed forces are already running out of patience with the 
manner things are going in the country especially the unbridled looting 
of public funds and undue interference in the runnings of military 
operations.<br />

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim and the Chief
 of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika issued the threats separately
 today though in a manner that suggests that their decision to make the 
declaration was predetermined and coordinated. They both spoke in their 
offices in Abuja while receiving the new Permanent Secretary posted to 
the Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismaila. The CDS who fired the first shot
 at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) categorically declared that the 
military was fast running out of patience with the “pile of mess” being 
created in the polity as reflected in the runnings of the Ministry of 
Defence.<br />

“You find too many stories about grandstanding, stories about 
procurement. I hope your tour of duty will focus on these issues. I will
 close this my response by saying that you inherited a pile of work, let
 me call it work, some call it pile of mess. You have to clear it up”, 
the CDS warned while referring to the corruption rooted in the MOD.<br />

Also speaking in the same tone, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), 
Lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika warned that the military have had 
enough from political office holders in the MOD interfering in their 
operational issues. He condemned the practice where civilians in the 
ministry preside over the procurement of military logistics and 
operations vehicles amongst others without the involvement of relevant 
service chiefs.<br />

Photos collated on the 4chan website show numerous images of 
suspicious individuals wearing large backpacks present at the scene of 
the Boston Marathon bombings.<br />

Three of the men appear to be Arab or Middle Eastern in appearance, whereas another two of the individuals are white.<br />

The images show the men looking away from the marathon runners, 
talking on cellphones and running from the scene immediately after the 
blast.<br />

Remains of one of the backpacks are also photographed yards from 
where one of the bombs exploded. The FBI states that at least one of the
 pressure cooker devices used in the bombing was housed in a backpack.<br />
<br />

Some of these men may have merely been victims, but the image of the 
two men standing together wearing the same clothes and carrying heavy 
backpacks and wearing credentials suggests they may have been involved 
in a drill or in the actual attack. One of individuals, a white man 
whose backpack was found at the scene of the bombing, looks badly 
dressed and disheveled.<br />
<br />
CNN is now reporting that authorities have identified one of the 
suspects involved in the attack by means of “video from a department 
store near the site of the second explosion” and “video from a Boston 
television station.”<br /><br />The Boston Globe also reports that, 
“authorities have an image of a suspect carrying and possibly dropping a
 black bag at the second blast site on Boylston Street.”<br />

<i>Thirty-two pregnant teenagers at various stages of their pregnancies 
have been arrested in Umuzue community in Osisioma Ngwa Local Government
 Area of Abia State by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense 
Corps (NSCDC).</i></div>

They were arrested together with the owner of the home, Mrs Nnenna 
Mba and two male workers on April 2, 2013 following a tip-off. The girls
 , whose ages range between 10 and 20 were believed to have run to the 
home after getting pregnant without the knowledge of their parents or 
were impregnated at the home by visiting males employed by the 
proprietor of the home.<br />
<br />

Speaking to <strong>Daily Sun</strong> at the office of the NSCDC, 
the Commandant, Mr Ben E. Dikuro said that his men stormed the home and 
arrested the teenage girls and the proprietor on Tuesday.<br />
<br />

“We gathered from a tip-off that girls who get pregnant are lured to 
the home with rosy promises of compensation when they deliver. Also 
young girls who needed money are also convinced to get pregnant and 
deliver the child and be paid some amount of money.<br />
<br />

The young girls are also allowed to sleep with some of the men they 
brought to the home. Anyone who delivers a girl is paid N80,000 and the 
child is sold by the owner of the home for N400,000. But if a girl 
delivered a boy, she was paid N100,000.<br />
<br />

While the boy would be sold to those that need them for N450,000. 
“Our investigation revealed that she has been operating the home since 
2009 but was able to register it in 2012. The aim of the registration 
was to run the outlet as a home for the less privileged, but she was 
hiding under that cover to perpetrate atrocities.<br />
<br />
All the girls we 
caught there are at various stages of pregnancy.<br />
<br />

We have gone to the Ministry of Women Affairs and discovered that her
 registration is different from what she is doing.” The Public Relations
 Officer of NSCDC, Mr Victor Ogbonna advised parents to take good care 
of their female children just like the males.<br />
<br />

“You can imagine, this type of girls that should be responsible to 
their parents being lured into the business of baby making just for 
money.<br />
<br />

The cause of all these is poverty and lack of orientation. You see 
children going into illegalities and evil to survive. The parents of 
these girls should know that as the boys are important, so are the girls
 and should be able to give them attention. My advice to the young girls
 is that they should keep away from bad friends.<br />
<br />

It is all about societal influence. Everybody wants to make it big , 
not minding how it is made. Almost all of them are pregnant, cant you 
see?” the PRO said. The proprietor of the home, Mrs. Mba, who spoke to 
Daily Sun argued that she was not doing any illegal thing.<br />
<br />

She said her ordeal was the handiwork of her enemies who were not 
happy that she was running a legal outfit. “I registered this home with 
Ministry of Women Affairs in December 2012, the Women Affairs came and 
inspected the place and certified it fit. The area we are attending to 
the girls is the social aspect of our job.<br />
<br />

I have never sold any baby since we started. Many of them were 
conscious before coming to us, they were not hoodwinked into coming and 
they didn’t sign any document for us as agreement.<br />
<br />

If any of them delivers and they want to give out their child, it 
will be a matter between them and the authorities that are in charge of 
adoption. We only act as intermediaries.<br />
<br />

They are all conscious. I did not force them, I am a qualified nurse.”<br />

EASTER MUSINGS!<br />
<br />

We thank Allah the Benevolent the Merciful, for passing us through 
the Easter season without any significant insecurity issue more 
especially against the Christian. We are happy for that and we applaud 
all for the peace-calling speeches we heard from all quarters.<br />
<br />

Since Easter is meant to be a period of spiritual contemplation, the 
best gift we can offer our Christian fellows is another prism to see 
through and re-contemplate.<br />
<br />

Religion is not defined by its adherents but by the theological basis
 of its deliverance. For instance, if Boko Haram, are the ones that 
define Islam, then Islam will be like a candle in broad day light 
burning itself out. Nor the sultanate or any other traditional or 
cultural organization or religious order for that matter. Nay, Islam is 
defined by the scriptural purity of its universal message. In that sense
 also, the church today does not define Christianity nor what the 
Christians do or don’t do. Christianity is equally defined by its 
theology.<br />
<br />

The theological basis, on which Easter celebrates, is the foundation 
of the Christian faith. St. Paul wrote: “And if Christ be not risen, 
then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain.“ Resurrection 
purports the necessity to believe that Jesus – alaihis Salam- died on 
the cross. On this all canonical Christians agree. Their belief is that 
Jesus was killed by crucifixion (c.f. cruci-fiction). While the Quran 
came categorically plain that Jesus was never killed by any method, 
crucifixion included. “And because of their boasting (Jews): “We killed 
Christ Jesus the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah”.;- but They killed
 Him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them, and 
those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) 
knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a surety They killed 
Him not:- Nay, Allah raised Him up unto Himself; and Allah is Exalted In
 power, Wise;- And there is none of the people of the Book but must 
believe In Him before His death; and on the Day of Judgment He will be a
 witness against them;”- Q4/157-159.<br />

These are words of the Quran, clear and unambiguous that Jesus Christ
 was not killed by the Jews or Romans. Beyond that, neither the Quran 
nor any Hadith attributed to the prophet –peace be upon him- explained 
the details of what happened to him. For the Islamic theologians they 
had to also depend on some Jewish narrations called “israeliyat” with 
what literally tally with the Quranic verse of their understanding. That
 is why the difference of opinion as to who was actually the fellow that
 was made to resemble Jesus.<br />

Part of the miracles of the Holy Quran is the malleability and 
selection of words -like a master key- to repute different wrong and 
faulty theological discrepancies at a go. What the Quran said was that 
the Jews who claimed they have killed Jesus on the cross are in dispute 
and are only following their thoughts – conjecture. “and those who 
differ therein are full of doubts, with no (certain) knowledge, but only
 conjecture to follow, for of a surety They killed Him not”.<br />
<br />

Strangely for them, such doubts were recorded among the canonical 
Christians. (Joh:19:31: The Jews therefore, because it was the 
preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the 
sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate 
that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 
Joh:19:32: Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and 
of the other which was crucified with him.Joh:19:33: But when they came 
to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:).<br />
<br />

The testimony of his death on the cross came from a distance 
observation of Roman soldiers – the executioners “and saw that he was 
dead already”. On the contrary, on close observation, of one of them, 
the bible recorded, doubted and therefore took a different cause to 
ascertain whether he actually died. (Joh:19:34: BUT one of the soldiers 
with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and 
water. Joh:19:35: And he that saw it bare record, and his record is 
true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. 
Joh:19:36: For these things were done, that the scripture should be 
fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. Joh:19:37: And again 
another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.)<br />
<br />

Here we are: “But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, 
and forthwith came there out blood and water. And he that saw it bare 
record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that 
ye might believe” that he was not dead when he was brought down from the
 cross. He was then only comatose. Therefore, the Quran here is also a 
perfect answer for this line of theological belief. Allah said in the 
Quran “”.;- but They killed Him not, nor crucified him, but so it was 
made to appear to them, and those who differ therein are full of doubts,
 with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow, for of a 
surety They killed Him not:- Nay, Allah raised Him up unto Himself; and 
Allah is Exalted In power, Wise;”. It explains the logic behind the 
emphasis “, for of a surety They killed Him not”. For those non 
canonical Christian scriptures like the disputed Gospel of Barnabas, 
where Jesus was substituted with another disciple, the Quranic 
expression “but so it was made to appear to them” is read as “but so he 
was made to appear to them”.<br />
<br />

Whichever way Christians and non-Christians follow, the Quran exposes
 the dispute therein in the one of the four canonical gospels and 
augment their uncertainty of his death on the cross as is in their 
scriptures, the very foundation of which billions of faithful hang their
 salvation on.<br />
<br />

Let us figuratively look at the issue this way. A thirsty man with 
the choices of either drinking a glass of a probably poisoned milk or an
 ascertained pure glass of water would drink the water. No two sane 
people will argue about this logic. This is the lesson the Quran casted 
on the end of the life of one of the greatest human that lived. Leave 
what is doubtful and follow what is simple and clear. Jesus – alaihis 
Salam- taught in unequivocal terms that God is the Master in charge and 
should only be worshiped directly, so why do people bet on the most 
unsubstantiated historical account of his life as the foundation of 
their faith? This when he has clearly shown his limitations. “And he 
saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with 
the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on
 my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it
 is prepared of my Father.” M’t:20:23. “ … no intercessor (can plead 
with him) except after His leave (hath been obtained). This is Allah 
your Lord; Him Therefore serve ye: will ye not receive admonition?

Abia State Governor, Theodore Orji has called on Igbo resident in the
 northern part of the country to return home if the bombings and 
killings persist.<br />
<br />

This came following the recent motor park bombing in Kano which left many Ndigbo dead and scores injured.<br />
<br />

According to Orji, if Ndigbo are continuously being massacred in the 
North, it portrayed that they were not accepted and the best option for 
them was to think home where their safety was guaranteed.<br />
<br />

He said, “No sane person will continue living in an atmosphere where his life is at stake.”<br />
<br />

He said home remains the most comfortable place for anyone whose life was in danger.<br />
<br />

On the death of Prof. Chinua Achebe, Orji said that though he was a 
respected Igbo son, his death had not created political leadership 
vacuum for Ndi Igbo because he was not a political leader of Ndi Igbo 
but a literary icon.<br />

President Goodluck Jonathan, Tuesday, sent a strong message to former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari, pleading with him to spearhead the campaign to persuade members of the Boko Haram sect to accept dialogue, as a means of ending the orgy of violence in the North.

Similarly, Jonathan asked Buhari to emulate the role he ( Jonathan) played by going to meet militants in their vast hideouts in the Niger Delta to plead with them to lay down their arms and accept the general amnesty granted by the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on June 25, 2009.<br />

Jonathan said he expected Buhari to lead the way in persuading the Boko Haram insurgents in the North to stop bombings and enter into dialogue with the Federal Government with a view to ending the violence in the region, which is threatening to disrupt the economy of the region and Nigeria.

The President, who sent the message to Buhari through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, accused the former head of state of making false allegations against him during his interview in London last week.

What Buhari told BBC in London

During the interview with the BBC, Buhari had said that the Federal Government should be held responsible for the worsening state of insecurity in Nigeria, accusing the leadership of not taking steps to halt the slide, which has claimed many lives and property in the region.

Buhari said: “The problem of terrorism is not confined to the North alone. Insecurity generally should be blamed on the Federal Government.

“The world is very much concerned about two things — the issue of security and economic wellbeing of a nation. Security is number one. A nation can only be economically viable if there is security.<br />

But how did all these crises start? How did the crises begin and assume this dimension?

“Until now, everyday, they abduct people and receive ransoms. How was the problem reduced? How did it start? What method was employed to convince them to mellow down?

“Similarly, what we should look at is, how did the Boko Haram start? We know all these. Security is the responsibility of the government.

“It is the responsibility of the Federal Government to know how this thing started and how to go about it.”

Jonathan takes on Buhari

But Okupe asked Nigerians to demand from Buhari what he had done as a leader in the North and a former head of state to halt the attacks by the sect.

He said: “Nigerians should ask him (Buhari) that as a former Head of state and as someone who wants to be president again, what he has  done to end this insurgence in the country.

“Or is it when he becomes President, he will stop the insurgence? No, it does not work that way. He should emulate President Jonathan who went to the creeks of the Niger Delta canvassing peace and dialogue with the militants of the Niger Delta.<br />

“Everybody knows that it was General Buhari, who vowed to make Nigeria ungovernable for President Jonathan if he loses the last presidential election. It was in Minna, that he said that once votes are countered and he loses that people should go for blood. He said in Hausa language. General Buhari is the person who sowed the wind that the nation is now reaping in whirlwind.

“He is not in any position to apportion blames on the issue of violence in the North or in Nigeria in general. He is a protagonist of violence. The only position he sees for not being the President is to call for violence. This government has tried as much as possible to contain some of Buhari’s unguarded statements. I don’t think anybody in Nigeria will take Buhari very serious when he makes such comments.<br />

“If there is anybody to blame, General Buhari comes number one on that list. Have you ever seen General Buhari visit BornoState or condemn the acts of the Boko Haram or condole  whether Christians or Muslims that have been killed?

“A man who can traverse the whole length and breadth of Nigeria, yet he cannot use that clout that he has and get leaders together to put an end to the insurgence in the country. And yet he finds it comfortable to blame other people. What has he done as a former Head of State to help Nigeria and Nigerians stop the militancy in the North or in other parts of the country?”
