The Senate says Nigeria will not accept the visa regime proposed by the United Kingdom seeking to compel Nigerian visitors to <a href="http://nigeriafilms.com/news/22270/17/if-your-friend-smiles-at-you-you-too-will-smile-at.html#" id="_GPLITA_0" style="text-decoration: underline;" title="Click to Continue > by Browse to Save">deposit</a> £3,000 bond before travelling there.<br /><br />The
 Chairman, Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, Sen. Matthew Nwagwu said
 this in Abuja on Tuesday while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria
 (NAN).<br /><br />Nwagwu said Nigeria would take reciprocal action against 
British citizens once it received formal notification of the policy from
 the UK immigration authorities.<br /><br />He pledged that the Senate would
 deploy necessary legislative action to ensure that Nigerian immigration
 authorities embarked on action commensurate with the ``obnoxious’’ UK 
policy.<br /><br />Nwagwu said that Nigeria was still awaiting a formal communication from the UK Government on the new visa policy.<br /><br />He
 said: ``When they inform us officially on this policy, we will respond 
to them officially. We will not accept it if Nigeria is branded among 
the countries they are targeting.<br /><br />``Reciprocity implies that, for
 example, if the UK government imposes this obnoxious policy on 
Nigerians, Nigeria also has the right to find a way to reply.<br /><br />``If
 your friend smiles at you, you too will smile at him. If he frowns at 
you, or decides not to love you anymore, it is up to you to decide how 
you will respond to him.<br /><br />``Normally, if Nigeria is threatened in a
 shady way and are excluded from a country, then, Nigeria must find a 
way to respond. It is up to the Government to decide”.<br /><br />Nwagwu called on Nigerian government to make effort to find out the rationale for the policy.<br /><br />The
 chairman also urged Nigerians who planned to travel to UK, to seek 
alternative destinations to fulfill their purpose for such trip.<br /><br />He said: ``If the policy comes into effect, it is left for Nigerians also to begin to find alternative travel destinations.<br /><br />``If somebody tells you not to go to his place again for any reason, you don’t have to impose yourself on him.<br /><br />``So, Nigerians should think whether it is worthwhile to go to <a href="http://nigeriafilms.com/news/22270/17/if-your-friend-smiles-at-you-you-too-will-smile-at.html#" id="_GPLITA_1" style="text-decoration: underline;" title="Click to Continue > by Browse to Save">deposit</a> £3,000 to enable them visit the UK.’’<br /><br />He
 said in spite of the security challenge in some parts of the north, 
Nigeria was generally peaceful with many foreigners, including Britons, 
going about their normal businesses without harassment.<br /><br />According
 to him, the current situation makes it necessary for Nigeria to review 
its relations with Britain, a country he says was expected to assist the
 country to deal with its problems.<br /><br />``You have to look at your friend properly to know whether he is the friend you know or not.<br /><br />He
 said that Britain should understand Nigeria properly with a view to 
helping the country solve its problems in whatever way it could.<br /><br />Sen.
 Chris Anyanwu (APGA-Imo) described the proposed policy as ``extremely 
offensive’’, especially coming from a country that has strong historical
 links with Nigeria.<br /><br />She said Nigeria had every reason to respond emphatically to the “unfriendly policy.”<br /><br />``This
 is an extreme and offending action and it is rather surprising that it 
is coming from Britain that has a very special relationship with 
Nigeria.<br /><br />``The onus lies on Nigeria to respond. We have to find 
ways of protesting perhaps by reducing patronage against things brought 
from Britain.<br /><br />Sen. Magnus Abe (PDP-Rivers) said Nigeria had 
forwarded a message to the British High Commissioner, that Nigerians 
would not accept such a “discriminatory policy.<br /><br />``As a country, 
we would be opposed to anything that is discriminatory to Nigerians and I
 have sent that message to the High Commission.<br /><br />``All Nigerians should let Britain know that that kind of policy is unacceptable,’’ Abe stressed. (NAN)<br /><strong></strong>

A very big disaster was averted last Sunday, May 19th, when an SAA 
South African Airways Airbus A340-600, registration ZS-SNG performing 
flight SA-60 from Johannesburg (South Africa) to Lagos (Nigeria) 
conveying over 300 people developed an electrical fault in Mid-air. I 
got this info from someone on the flight and i am suprised that it’s not
 in the news.<br />
<br />
I heard about it yesterday when a work colleague of mine was 
narrating the entire story to me and another guy in his car. According 
to him, he was on the flight that faithful day..it was a night flight 
and he was listening to music from his Ipod when he perceived a foul 
burning odor, he thought the white man sitting next to him had farted 
but he knew it something more serious when he noticed people panicking.<br />
<br />

He pulled his headphones and asked the white guy sitting next to him 
why people where panicking, all the white man was saying was ’’this 
plane is going to crash! This plane s going to crash!..all of a sudden 
the lighting system in the aircraft went off…everyone was mad with 
fear.. some started praying others brought out their blackberries and 
started pinging, some started calling loved ones and telling them their 
last wishes.<br />

The captain then announced that the plane had developed an electrical
 fault and they were going to have an emergency landing. The pilot then 
turned the plane around and headed back to South africa, My colleague 
then revealed that it was then he saw 2face Idibia walk past him and 
when he looked back he saw the popstar talking and calming his crew 
down, telling them not to panic.<br />
<br />

After 45 minutes, the captain announced that they were going to ‘dump
 the fuel’ i.e remove all the jetfuel on the plane, this is a 
precautionary step taken by pilots whenever a plane is going to crash or
 whenever there is a risk of fire. As they were about to land….another 
problem came up…the captain announced that the tires of the plane could 
not come out..by then everyone on the plane had given up.<br />
<br />

Miraculously, the tires came out and the plane successfully landed 
and the passengers were evacuated. My colleague then said that himself 
and other passengers were taken to the arrival lounge, that was when he 
met Tony Anenih’s wife,Josephine, they talked and exchanged cards.<br />
<br />

After much investigation, it was a kettle that sparked in the kitchen
 that affected the whole electrical system of the plane. According to my
 colleague a lot of Nigerians including senators constituted the bulk of
 passengers.

Called OmoSexy by her fans, she has made 300 or so features, from the 1996 Mortal Inheritance to the 2010 superproduction Ijé, shot partly on location in Los Angeles. Married to an airline pilot she wed on a flight from Lagos to Benin, Jalade-Ekeinde brings a juggler’s grace to her roles as actress, singer, reality-show star, mother of four and philanthropist (the Omotola Youth Empowerment Programme).

Success hasn’t spoiled Africa’s most renowned leading lady. Rather than going Hollywood, Omotola wants to stay Nollywood.<br />
