The first son of late Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, Charly boy,
yesterday disgraced Governor Rochas Okorocha at an Arequiem mass organised for <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD5">his
father</span> in Imo State.

Chief Okorocha, was stopped midway into his speech, by Charly
Boy when the <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD6">Catholic Bishop</span> invited him to the alter to pay his tribute to the
fallen judge. Charly boy walked up angrily to <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD7">the altar</span>, snatched the
micro-phone from the governor, and yelled at the Bishop for giving him the
micro-phone to pay tribute to his father.<br />

A lot of people have said, Charly boy decided to disgrace
him, when his government allegedly said they gave his family N20m for his
father’s burial, which is far from the truth. </div>

Charly boy hasn’t said anything since yesterday’s incident,
but the State Government has described the incident has Ugly and regrettable.
They also accused Charly boy for working for other parties who are against
Rochas administration.</div>

Mr Charles Emeka Oputa, aka, Charly Boy, threw caution to the wind and turned
the church service into a political theatre that saw him acting or playing out

cowed by the overwhelming popularity of Governor Rochas Okorocha”, </div>

”We condemn that ugly incident and also wish to advise
politicians from the state to stop heating up the polity over power since God

State and when God decides that, there is nothing anybody can do about it”,  Senior Special <span class="IL_AD" id="IL_AD3">Assistant</span>, SSA, Media, Mr Sam
Onwuemodo said. </div>

He also insisted that, the state government made substantial
financial input and also organized a special day of tributes for the late
Justice at the expense of state government with Charly Boy and  other members of his family present.</div>

Sullivan Chime of Enugu State on Tuesday night denied subjecting his 
wife, Mrs. Clara Chime, to house arrest and has vowed to protect her 
from being exposed to ridicule. Chime made this denial in the presence 
of some journalists, his wife and her elder brother, Mr. Tony Igwe.</span><br />

 present were the governor’s siblings, Mrs. May Oji and Dr. Jide Chime, 
as well as Mrs. Chime’s neuro-psychiatric doctor, Dr. Aham Agumuo, among
 a few others. At the interview session, the governor’s wife denied 
sending any petition to the National Human Rights Commission alleging 
unlawful detention by her husband. She also denied hiring the services 
of Mr. Femi Falana to seek her freedom from an alleged house arrest at 
the Governor’s Lodge, Enugu.<br /><br />Falana had claimed in his letter
 to media houses and the Inspector-General of Police that he was engaged
 by the governor’s wife to seek her freedom from alleged house 
arrest. The state governor, however, stated that it was “so disturbing” 
for him to speak out publicly about his wife’s health challenges.<br /><br />He vowed to do all within his power, no matter the personal pains, to protect her from ridicule.</span><br />

 my wife has some medical challenges and it would be very unkind for me 
to talk about her condition on the pages of newspapers. “I have done

Reacting to recent comments by the presidential spokesperson Doyin 
Okupe, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has berated recent outburst 
and went further to describe the recently registered APC as the panacea 
to the nation’s problems.<br />
<br />

While engaging in the interview, Governor Lamido, admitted that he 
was in agreement with President Goodluck Jonathan that Nigeria cannot 
break as he said that members of the elite class in the country were 
united in preserving their advantages over the masses irrespective of 
tribe and religion.<br />
<br />

Lamido also expressed disappointment with statements credited to 
former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mohammed 
Abba-Gana, that there was no presidential material in the north.<br />
<br />

While commenting on the recent visits to some of the country’s 
elder-statesmen by some governors, he said the governors acted in the 
interest of the nation and in their determination to salvage the 
country’s democracy.<br />
<br />

He blasted out at okupe by saying “A situation where a hired hand 
like Doyin Okupe, a wage earner that speaks only to justify his pay, 
will malign me that I am irrelevant.<br />
<br />

“He became an aide after the election. These people who are now 
talking and abusing us are personal aides, who became what they are when
 the mandate was achieved.<br />
<br />

“They were nowhere when the whole thing was being worked out. It 
means there was an election before they were able to serve as aides.<br />
<br />

“There is nothing like honour in that because they are just hired 
hands. If tomorrow you have another President, they go to him.”<br />
<br />

‘Why Nigeria can’t break’<br />

Agreeing with President Jonathan that Nigeria cannot break, he said: 
“It is too weak to break. Who will break it? The ordinary person in 
Jigawa or the ordinary person in Sokoto or the ordinary person in 
Bayelsa?<br />

“Is it the Ibo vulcaniser or the Yoruba woman that is selling kerosene by the roadside or the Okada man in Delta?<br />
<br />

“They don’t have the capacity to unite because they are burdened by 
poverty. We have taken away from them their dignity, their self esteem, 
their pride and self worth so that they cannot even organise.<br />
<br />

“Up there, we (elite) unite, we sing and so we will never allow Nigeria to break because once it breaks, we will lose.<br />

“But the common man loses nothing. What is he losing? He is already 
living in hell; he cannot lose anything more than this hell.”<br />

At least four members of the Rivers State House of Assembly were Tuesday,
injured in a fracas on the floor of the House.<br />
<br />

At the end of the squabble, the group of five legislators opposed to the governor
claimed to have removed Speaker Otelemaba Amachree. Their claim was, however,
quickly repudiated by 23 members who flocked in support of the speaker.<br />
<br />

Yesterday’s violent clash happened on the first day of sitting since the
political upheaval in the state triggered by removal of the structures of the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP from Governor Amaechi about three months ago.<br />
<br />

Computers and several valuables in the main chamber of the legislative
complex were smashed in the morning violence that was witnessed by security
agents who had mounted an unprecedented cordon within and outside the chambers.<br />
<br />

The members had been recalled from an indefinite break by Speaker Amachree
following a request by Governor Amaechi for an amendment to the 2013 budget of
the state.<br />
<br />
At about 10.30 a.m. as members sauntered in and engaged themselves in banters
awaiting procession of the speaker, the leader of the House, Hon Chidi Lloyd
offered a hand to the member representing Ogu-Bolo constituency, Hon Evans
Bipi, a newly married member and relation of First Lady, Dame Patience
Jonathan, whose wedding drew the First Lady to Port-Harcourt last month.<br />
<br />

Llyod’s gesture of a handshake was rewarded with a slap on the face by Bipi and
immediately, the whole house was engulfed in bedlam. In the melee, one of the
other four members in the anti-Amaechi camp dashed for the tripod of a
television camera and swung it round, hitting at opponents.<br />
<br />

He was followed by another lawmaker who went for the mace and smashed it on
the head of two lawmakers. The violence continued for some time with security
men watching until Governor Amaechi rushed to the scene with his own entourage
of security men from Government House who attempted to stop the fracas.<br />

The remains of Abibat Mogaji, the mother of the Action Congress of 
Nigeria (ACN) National Leader, Bola Tinubu, was on Sunday buried at the 
Vault and Garden Cemetery, Ikoyi, Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.<br />

The late 
Mogaji, who was the President General, Association of Nigerian Market 
Women and Men died in her home on Saturday at Sunday Adigun, Alausa in 
Ikeja at the age of 96.<br />
Prayers were offered for her at the Lagos 
Central Mosque by the Chief Imam of Lagos State, Garuba Akinola, who was
 represented by Mujitabah Giwa.<br />
<br />
In his sermon, the cleric said there 
were many things to emulate in the life of the late Mogaji as she lived 
an exemplary life worthy of emulation and urged all to emulate her good 
virtue.<br />

A can of worms is about to be let loose by the highly hunted governor of
 Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi. He said the time is finally at hand for 
him to expose all  the Abuja-based politicians who are after the 
resources of the State instead of the welfare of all Nigerians.</div>

The EFCC on Wednesday 8th May, 2013, arrested the former governor of 
Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva in a rather ridiculous manner. He was 
fished out from his residence at No. 3 Niger Street, Maitama, Abuja. </div>

On their arrival at about 10.00 am, EFCC operatives were lied to that 
the ex-governor was not in town but they insisted on conducting a search
 of the house having obtained a warrant from the court...</div>

During the search, vital documents were obtained. To their surprise, the
 ex-governor who was said to be out of town was caught hiding in a dingy
 corner in the upper chamber of his mansion.<br />

anti-graft agency for interrogation. He is being grilled in connection 
with fresh evidence linking him with several fraudulent transactions 
that border on money laundering. </div>

Part of the new evidence includes a number of eye-popping real estate 
acquisitions in Abuja. The arrest of Sylva is sequel to his refusal to 
honour invitations by the EFCC. Rather than appear before the EFCC, he 
got his lawyers to inform the Commission that he was unable to appear 
because he was sick, and hospitalised in Lagos. </div>

The lawyer promised to appear with his client on May 7, 2013, but failed
 to do so. The EFCC has however warned that it will not longer tolerate 
the antics of politicians who treat its invitations with levity.</div>

A story went viral on the internet yesterday about who Omawunmi's baby

Although the people of Akwa Ibom  State in South South Nigeria wont 
elect a new governor until early 2015, the current Secretary to the 
State Government, Obong Umana Okon Umana has launched his ambition to 
occupy the seat of Governor Godswill Akpabio.<br /><br />Is that not too 
early, you also asked? Ah, thank you dear reader, a lot of people in the
 state also think so, but they say the man walks with the mentality that
 the seat is waiting for him. They speak about widely circulated rumours
 that Umana claims that there is an agreement between him and Akpabio to
 the effect that he would be the next Governor, so he has the right to 
launch his campaign at any time.<br />

signed by a group which called itself U31 Project.<br /><br />A source who  
analysed the text to mean that Umana, (who has been in Government since 
1999 when he was appointed Finance Commissioner in the Obong Victor 
Attah administration) “ truly considers himself to be the power behind 
the throne in the state, otherwise why are they talking about swapping

<strong></strong>A female corpse was found Monday morning around Tudunwa in Jos North Local Government Area of <a href="http://www.plateaustate.gov.ng/" target="_blank">Plateau State</a>.<br />
<br />

Witnesses say the body had its private parts, lips, and tongue cut off.<br />
<br />

According to a witness, who did not want his name mentioned for 
security reasons, the corpse was dumped in a stream between Sabon Gari 
in Tudunwa and Hwoshel.<br />
<br />

Residents of the area said the deceased may have been killed by ritualists.<br />
<br />

The corpse was eventually taken away by officials of the Nigerian 
Security and Civil Defence Corps and handed over to the A Division of 
the Nigeria Police in Jos.<br />
<br />

Apart from the ethno-religious crises that have led to the killing of
 hundreds of people in Plateau, other crime rates have also spiraled in 
the stat including kidnapping and murder.<br />
<br />

About 7 children were reported missing between January and February of which none has been found.<br />
<br />

A couple of weeks ago, a 9-year-old boy, Henry Goodness, was found 
hung on a rope in Tudunwada area of the state. Though some residents of 
the area said the boy committed suicide, his parents insist it was 
murder.<br />

Conservative MP for Finchley, north London in 1959, retiring from the 
Commons in 1992.<br />

Having been education secretary, she successfully challenged

After series of intrigues, the newly appointed Deputy Governor of Imo 
State, 48-year-old Prince Eze Madumere, was sworn-in Saturday amid tight
 security at the Sam Mbakwe Expanded Executive Council Chambers, 
Government House, Owerri.<br /><br />Madumere’s name was submitted to the 
27-member Imo State House of Assembly, presided by Benjamin Uwajimogu, 
after the impeachment of Sir Jude Agbaso, for “gross misconduct of 
office and bribery”.<br /><br />He was screened and cleared after a seven–man panel headed by Justice Godwin Ihekire (rtd) submitted a report indicting Agbaso.<br />
