"God Will Choose My Successor" - Governor Rotimi Amaechi

He said he will personally pray for God to make His choice on who becomes the next governor of the state. He spoke at St. Barth’s Anglican Church, Bera Deanery, during Senator Magnus Abe’s thanksgiving service in Gokana Local Government Area of the state, weekend.</div>

Senator Abe had organised the thanksgiving service to thank God for his survival in the attack on him by the police at a Save Rivers Movement rally in Rumuola, Port Harcourt. Amaechi said the next governor would be somebody of reliable character, who would continue after him in transformation of the state.</div>

Minister of State for Education Nyesom Wike yesterday blew hot over the Rivers State crisis, declaring that he won’t fold his arms and watch Governor Rotimi Amaechi rubbish President Goodluck Jonathan.

“The message is clear. This is a mass movement, because we want a change in Rivers State. I was a politician before I became a minister and I am still a politician. I cannot fold my arms and stay in Abuja and be doing ministerial work and somebody (Amaechi) is giving my boss conditions. I will not accept that”, he said.

He alleged that Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), could no longer sleep as he (Wike) promised him, adding that the governor is restless.

Wike spoke yesterday at the Community Secondary School, Unyeada in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State. It was at the inauguration of the Local council and Wards (11) Executive Committees of the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), of which is the grand patron.

Last night, Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, dismissed Wike’s outburst; saying: “I do not feel it is statemanly for Wike to state that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the Governor of Rivers State and the Chairman of the NGF, cannot sleep again.”

She added: “It shows people’s attitude to peace and security in Rivers state. It will be an unfortunate wish by anybody, for a state they call theirs, to give anybody sleepless night.”

Fully-armed soldiers and policemen provided security for Wike, who moved into and out of the ancient town in helicopter.

The Rivers state Government has deported Nigerians the state claimed to be beggars and destitute people from streets in the state.
According to the Permanent Secretary in the state’s Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Stella Toby, "beggars, destitute people and mentally-ill people were constituting problems on some major streets and roads in the state.

"Governor Amaechi's Government had set up a special committee charged with the responsibility of restoring sanity on major areas of the state.
“Most of the beggars are from neighbouring Igbo, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers, Delta, Bayelsa and Edo states and I can assure you that they will be removed from the streets and repatriated back to their respective states.”

"Non-indigenes had since been repatriated to their various states, while the indigenes would be treated by the government until they were fit to re-unite with their families".

As at the time of this post, naijaXclusive.com is not aware where these deportees were dumped, but Social Welfare and Rehabilitation ministry claimed that about 113 people have been sent away from the state.

Management Agency had on Friday temporarily grounded the Bombardier – 
BD700 Global Express aircraft in Akure, Ondo State, over the pilot’s 
alleged inability to provide the manifest of the plane.</span></div>

industry regulator, Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, on Saturday, 
announced that the aircraft had been banned from flying in Nigeria.</span></div>

Airworthiness and Standards, NCAA, Mr. Benedict Adeyileka, alleged that 
the aircraft had been flying illegally to several places, including 
Owerri in Imo State and Akure.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The statement read in 
part, “The controversial aircraft on the service of Governor Rotimi 
Amaechi is operating illegally in the country. The clearance approval of
 the Bombardier BD700 Global Express, with registration number N565RS, 
expired since April 2, 2013.</span></div>

last flight clearance for this aircraft was approved for operations on 
March 28, 2013 on Accra/Port Harcourt and Accra to terminate on April 2,
 2013. With this development, the aircraft has exceeded the extra two 
days or 48 hours leeway for it to leave the country.</span></div>

aircraft, according to the certificate of registration, is Bank of Utah

 the Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, was stranded for

Ado-Ekiti after attending the burial of Ekiti State Deputy Governor,

 Supo Atobatele, who confirmed the development on Friday, had said the

of the plane, the Rivers State Government on Saturday, described the 
defence of the aviation authorities as a ‘big lie.’</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The Chief Press 
Secretary to the governor, Mr. David Iyofor, said contrary to NAMA’s 
claims on Friday, the pilot of the plane had filed his flight plan and 
declared his manifest, but was told to see the controller.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The controller, according to Iyofor, told the pilot that the state government’s plane would not be allowed to leave the airport.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“It is indeed most 
shameful and ludicrous that NAMA and the aviation authorities are now 
saying that they grounded the Rivers State government’s plane because 
the pilot did not file a flight plan and declare a manifest.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“That’s a blatant lie. 
The pilot filed the flight plan and manifest, and paid all the statutory
 airport fees and charges shortly after the plane arrived at the Akure 
Airport in the afternoon.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“If the pilot filed a 
flight plan and manifest at the airports in Abuja and Owerri, where he 
flew from same day, why won’t he then do the same in Akure?</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">“It is instructive to 
note that all through the traumatic time we spent in Akure, no official 
of the airport or aviation staff came to tell Governor Amaechi that we 
were grounded because our pilot refused to file a flight plan and

was that they were just obeying directives; it was beyond them and we 
should call Abuja. The Speaker, Aminu Tambuwal, and the other four 
members of the House of Representatives are living witnesses to that 
charade,” Iyofor said.</span></div>

 to Nigerians why an aircraft belonging to a state government and 
conveying a governor and other elected officials would be grounded at an

grounding of the aircraft had anything to do with the rift between 
Amaechi and the Presidency, Iyofor declined comments.</span></div>

government was still weighing the incident and would soon decide whether
 or not to petition the appropriate authorities on the matter.</span></div>

Nigerians what happened. That is why we came out with a statement. I am
